Our Story
TORII COLLECTIVE is an atelier devoted to collectible solid-wood furniture. Every piece is a bespoke commission — hand-sculpted, fully customised to your vision, and given the time that functional art demands.

Nothing here is rushed, and nothing is stocked. Each commission is measured in weeks — the honest cost of work done properly.

How a piece is made
Boards are chosen by hand for grain and character, then rested in the atelier until they reach equilibrium. Only a fraction of what we see makes the cut.

Mortise and tenon, dovetail, bridle — cut to fit and pinned without visible hardware, so the structure itself becomes the ornament.

Curves are carved with gouge and chisel, refined by eye and by hand until the silhouette reads as one continuous gesture.

Hand-rubbed oils and waxes settle into the grain rather than sitting on top of it — ageing gracefully, renewable at home for decades.

Furniture should be finished once, well — never disposable, never replaced.

Bespoke
A TORII commission is not chosen from a shelf — it is drawn around you. Timber, finish, upholstery and proportion are all decided together, then built by hand and delivered worldwide.
Start a commissionWalnut, oak, ash — or a species sourced for your commission alone.
Hand-rubbed oils, soaps and lacquers, tuned to your light and your interior.
Every dimension is adjustable. The piece is drawn around your space, not the other way around.
Materials & Care
Deep chocolate heartwood that lightens gracefully with sunlight. Our signature timber for statement pieces.
Pale, open-grained and immensely strong. Takes soap and hardwax finishes beautifully.
Bright, elastic and shock-resistant — ideal for steam-bent backs and turned legs.
Care is simple: dust with a soft dry cloth, avoid standing water and direct heat, and re-oil once or twice a year. Detailed care notes ship with every piece.
